Check out this "loaded bloody Mary" from River Bend
On Sunday, the Kankakee River was still so high that you could boat upstream past Ryan’s Pier. Brendan and I and some friends took advantage of this rare opportunity and trekked all the way up to the Route 17 bridge, something I’ve never done before.
One of the nice things about being able to get up that far is that you can stop at River Bend Bar & Grill, which has good food and a great patio. On Sunday, one of their advertised specials was a “loaded bloody Mary” for $3. “Loaded” may have been an understatement.
The drink was topped with two jumbo shrimp, a pickle, green onion, cheese, olives, onion, pepperoni, a pepperoncini pepper, and probably other stuff that I couldn’t see. It was quite a sight, so I even took a picture.
The loaded bloody Mary’s are only available on Sundays.
To get to River Bend by car, take U.S. Route 17 to Sandbar Road, and then take a quick left onto the frontage road, which dead-ends at River Bend’s parking lot.
If you go, I recommend the River Bend Boat sandwich and the sour-cream-and-chive fries.

I’m sure the Bloody Marys are fabulous but for display purposes a nice goblet style vessel would enhance the appearance temendously.
