A reader shares 3 of her favorites

A reader named Cheryl sent me these recommendations last week via email:

“I read that you like Thai food. Don’t know if you have tried Siam Thai at Vollmer Rd. & Governors Hwy. in Flossmoor Commons. It is a family business. Nate, the owner, is always friendly. The service & food are the best & prices fair. If you go, a FEW dishes worth trying are: BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Spicy Noodle with Shrimp, Chicken Marinated with Garlic & Black Pepper, the Tom Yum Soup & the Cucumber Salad, as well as the Thai Iced Coffee or Thai Iced Tea. Well worth the trip.

One of my favorite restaurants is Coopers Hawk Winery & Restaurant across from Famous Dave’s on Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park. They are a little pricier but not really for the type of restaurant they are. They have an Aunt Lynn’s Asian Pork Tenderloin that is wonderful & their ice wine (expensive, of course) is the best I’ve had. If you like wine, this is the place to be.

One last place to try is right across the street from Coopers Hawk … Sabor do Brasil. You should go at lunch because it is half the price & event though there are less cuts of meat offered, there are still plenty & they are the ones that count. It is a Brazilian Char House that is a carnivore’s paradise, complete with Gauchos walking around offering you meat until you turn your coaster over to the red side so they pass you by.”

Thanks, Cheryl!

If you have recommendations of favorite restuarants, you can email them to me at drenckens@daily-journal.com. I will likely post them on this blog, using just your first name. If that is not OK with you, please say so in the email.
