March 15: Corned beef dinner in Campus
Thanks to a reader named Sue for emailing me this information about an upcoming corned beef dinner:
“Can’t figure out where to get your corned beef and cabbage fix this St. Paddy’s Day? Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 15, from 3 to 7 p.m.** (See note below.) The annual Sacred Heart Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner will be held at the parish hall in Campus. People come from miles around for the great food and friendly people, but it’s their warm mustard sauce that has made this a local favorite for many, many years. The sauce has become legendary and many claim they can no longer eat corned beef without it!”
The dinner costs $8 and includes corned beef and cabbage, potatoes, carrots, other side dishes, a drink and dessert. Carry-outs are available.
Sacred Heart Church is at 290 Elm St. Click here for a map. It looks like you would take Illinois 17 almost to Dwight, turn left onto N. 3300 E. Road, and drive south for 5 miles into Campus.
I love corned beef and cabbage (possibly due to the quarter of Scotch-Irish blood in me), so I hope to attend.
UPDATE:
Sue just emailed me to correct the time, which should be 2 to 6 p.m. She also included prices for children, which are $3 for ages 6 to 12. Kids 5 and under are free. (Posted March 9 at 2:23 p.m.)
