More than Mexican cuisine at Sabor A Mi Tierra in Aroma Park
A reader named Megan emailed me a few days ago to ask for help getting the word out about Sabor A Mi Tierra in Aroma Park. Here’s what she said:
Hello. A friend of mine was at the small Mexican restaurant in Aroma Park the other day. The owner actually mentioned that business is very slow and they may have to close the doors. I think the name of the restaurant is misleading to people; they think it is only Mexican food. They actually serve all different types of food including hamburgers and chicken nuggets.
I would hate to see another restaurant fail in this area. Could you possibly put a “blurb” in the paper about this restaurant and their actual menu items. I myself have always thought it was just Mexican food until my friend informed me otherwise.
Thanks!
The restaurant Megan refers to is Sabor a Mi Tierra, located at 101 E. Mill St. in Aroma Park. The owners of La Siesta in Bradley opened the eatery June 30, 2008, and both feature very similar menus.
Sabor A Mi Tierra (which means “taste of my land”) opens at 11 a.m. daily and closes at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For takeout, call (815) 935-1000.
Thanks, Megan, for the information, and to all you readers, PLEASE support our independent restaurants. They need us, and we need them if we want to enjoy dining options other than the big chains.

I love this place. It’s just a couple blocks from my house and the food is delicious! The prices are very reasonable, too.
