Reader recommendation: Stage Door Sweet Shop
A reader named Russell called recently to tell me that Stage Door Sweet Shoppe (110 E. Washington) in Momence “has absolutely the best ice cream I’ve ever had.”
“I go there every single day,” he said. “They have some great black raspberry sorbet. … I’m just giving it thumb’s up, four stars.”
Stage Door serves more than two dozen flavors of Ashby’s Ice Cream, plus specialty sodas. They also have weekly meal specials, such as a hot dog, soda and chips for $2.75.
Stage Door is open from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. They’re closed on Monday.

It is awesome! We love it! One of the only old time ice cream shops in the area. My kids love the combo of Blue Moon and Playdough. I highly recommend it!
