Reader recommendation: Paul’s Place

“I just came back from Paul’s Place over there on Washington Avenue. I had the best chicken and waffles I’ve had in a long time. It’s a special order, not on the menu, but they’re really worth the trip.”
While chicken and waffles is a traditional combination in the South, it’s not something that’s likely to be familiar to restaurant staff around here, including at Paul’s. If you want to give it a try, order a waffle as well as an order of wings.
Paul’s Place is at 500 S. Washington in Kankakee. They open at 6:30 a.m. daily and are open until 2 a.m. daily except Sunday, when they close at 2 p.m. The phone is (815) 802-1090.

Chicken and waffles are quite popular in Los Angeles too.
