What would Super Bowl Sunday be without food?
According to Fox News and the Snack Food Association, Americans will consume 33 million pounds of snacks that day, including more than 1.23 billion wings, 11 million pounds of chips, an estimated 4 million pounds of pretzels and 2 1/2 million pounds of nuts.
Deb Terrill, The Daily Journal food columnist, will provide a special recipe for sports lovers in Saturday’s paper, but for those of you who prefer eating to cooking, here’s a look at some of the local restaurants that can supply those super snacks for your party. Just order early while their supplies last.
Bull’s Pit Smoked Barbecue and Bull’s On Broadway are offering a special package that includes cheeseburger balls, deep-fried mushrooms, wings and fried pickles for $19.99. Other specials include $2 off every pound of meat; $.75 jumbo wings; a half pan of barbecued nachos for $14.99 and $3 Sammys with beef brisket, pulled chicken or pulled pork.
Bull’s will open at 10 a.m. and will stay open until 7 p.m. Sunday. Dine in, carry out and delivery will be available.

Frans on 17 is offering a special carryout menu. Specials include buy two large pizzas and get a third one of equal or lesser value free, 50 wings with three sauces for $29.99, a wrap platter that includes three sauces and feeds 10 to 15 people for $39.99, and 24 pieces of fried chicken with six rolls and cole slaw for $27.99. If you prefer to watch the game with Fran and Dewey, you’ll receive free appetizers during the game.

The Fieldhouse — On Heritage — Grille & Pub will be having a Super Bowl party. The big game will be shown on all 13 big-screen HDTVs. It opens at 11 a.m. and will offer specials all day long including half-price appetizers, a large one-topping pizza and bucket of domestic beer for $18, $2 domestic bottled beer and Bloody Mary’s. There will also be drawings for free T-shirts, hats and more.

Twig and Barry’s is offering a wide variety of scratch-made Super Bowl snacks including boneless wingers (24 for $12 or 100 for $45) that come with half a dozen unique sauces, Angus sliders, four cheese macaroni and cheese or Chicken Little sandwiches. The restaurant will also be offering a vegetable tray with their house-made hummus and yogurt dill sauce for $25. It will feed 10 to 12 people. Anthony’s Pizzeria, Family Restaurant & Pub will be celebrating the Super Bowl with free food during half-time. Their game-day specials will include $1 domestic drafts, $4 off a large cheese pizza, $3 off a medium cheese and $2 off a small cheese pizza. They will also offer giveaways throughout the game.

Jimmy Jo’s BBQ in Bourbonnais is taking orders for their Super Bowl Family Pack. For $35.99 you’ll receive 1 1/2 pounds of pulled pork or beef brisket, a full slab of award-winning ribs (cut individually for sharing), two large sides, buns and sauce.
Owner Jim Johanek said orders must be in by Saturday at 9 p.m. for pick up Sunday.

Over at Buffalo Wild Wings, manager Kevin Pyle said, “Super Bowl is a big take-out event for us, since so many people either host or attend private home parties. People should call us with their orders as early as possible, as even we can produce only so many wings per half hour. We guarantee 30 minute pick-up windows, and those windows will fill up with orders.”
Groups also are welcome in the restaurant. There is plenty of room to eat and watch the game.
