I received this report from a reader named Hank:
“Carmen’s Bakery & Deli at 33 South Oak in Herscher will be opening later this month. Severing freshly made bakery items and coffee for breakfast and deli style sandwiches with homemade soups and salads for lunch along with a hot lunch special every day.”

Tiger’s Den in Herscher is closed this week while the owners are on vacation. It will reopen on Tuesday at 6 a.m. with breakfast service. Previously they only served lunch and dinner. Area farmers will be supplying many of the ingredients for the new meals, including the eggs.
The new hours will be 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. They don’t accept credit cards, but checks are fine. Tiger’s Den is at 160 S. Main St.
