Editor's picks for Friday, Aug. 29
Looking for something to do on Friday? Here are two suggestions:
On Friday afternoon, check out the Business After Hours held in conjunction with the Power Boat Nationals. I always look forward to this event because it’s held outside along the river. (So far, the weather forecast looks good.) It runs from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Kanakakee Valley Boat Club, and is jointly sponsored by the Bradley Bourbonnais Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Kankakee Chamber of Commerce.
Then head over to the depot in downtown in Kankakee for a concert and a movie. Balcony for a Ghost will perform from 7 to 8 p.m., and then the movie “Edward Scissorhands” will be shown. The concert and movie are free, but bring your own blankets or lawn chairs. Food will be sold by area vendors.
