Schyler Miler invitation
If you haven’t yet received your personal invitation to tomorrow’s Schyuler Miler, here is is:
Gentlemen (or people who know gentlemen),
Many of you may be familiar with the most famous 0.4 mile run in the City of Kankakee … The Schuyler Miler Annual Invitation Run. You are invited to be a part of this mock-prestigious event as many less-than-perfect physical specimens will make this entirely downhill run. The winner … well, the winner will be labeled a show-off and could perhaps lose beer tent privileges at the finish line. The idea is simply to have fun and make people wonder … “what are all those chubby guys doing running down Schuyler Ave.”
Details
Gather: 11 a.m. Saturday at the Paramount parking lot on North Schuyler
Run: 11:30 from the Paramount to the Half Paddy Festival at St. Patrick’s Church
Cost: A $20 donation covers T-shirt, refreshments and snacks along the run route. All proceeds go to the upkeep of and work done at St. Patrick’s Church in Kankakee.
This promises to be one of the most entertaining events of the year. I plan to be there with a camera.
