Music Fest kicked off Friday night at the Depot in downtown Kankakee, and I was there enjoying the music and taking pictures. I got some particularly nice shots of the fountain, which is one of the many nice improvements that have been made around the Depot in the last year or two. Music Fest continued today.
Didn’t hear about it? Well then you should read my blog more often! I wrote about it on Tuesday.
Congrats to the winners of The Daily Journal’s second annual Salsa Fiesta contest! The event was held this morning at the Kankakee Farmers Market. For details on the contest and the names of the winners, read my post on my Best Bites blog.
Here are some pictures from the Business After Hours held yesterday at Hanger (215 N. Convent #4) in Bourbonnais.
Never heard of Hanger? Here’s some information from their Web site: (more…)
Last night I attended the 2008 Legislative Reception, sponsored by the Kankakee Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Kankakee County Farm Bureau. My intention was to take pictures of the attendees to post on this sight. However, when I got there, I discovered that Daily Journal photographer Nick Holstein was already there snapping away. Being a real photographer with a real camera (see photo below), I was fairly certain that he was going to do a better job than I ever could with my $150 point-and-shoot and three weeks of photography experience. So I let him worry about the dim lighting at the Kankakee Country Club, and instead I ate dinner and socialized – and took a picture of Nick taking pictures! Here it is. You can see some of the photos Nick took on The Daily Journal Web site.
P.S. Can you see the man on the far right? He probably can’t see Nick and wonders why in the world I’m taking a picture of a post. Or he can see Nick and thinks I’m loony for taking a picture of a man taking pictures. The woman who’s shoulder is visible in the picture is Aimee Jones-Luedtke, who is running for Kankakee County Auditor.
